"And
yet, if it vanished, I would [still] be Tomás with
the knowledge of this gentle loving night, and all of the
hot falcon nights and all of the gentle mornings and the
Gaudí afternoons, and I would not give this up for
anything, anything."
Can
the fantastical designs of Spanish-American architect
Tomás ever be built?
Everyone laughs at the thought until Tomás meets
Hassad, a self-made Moroccan,
part-time drug “exporter” and the most beautiful
man Tomás has ever met, who offers him unconditional
support and love. A supposed straight man until then,
Tomás succumbs to Hassad’s charisma
to the point that he must decide whether to come out,
both creatively and sexually. Hassad, in turn,
faces the challenge of learning to make a commitment.
Set
in the late1970s, a mentoring and loving relationship
builds around this unlikely couple, but it is eventually
devastated by Hassad’s sister, Kenitra,
Tomás’ insecurities and a little Moroccan
magic. Can their relationship survive this?
Intelligent,
sexy and humorous, this tale includes lovable, slightly
offbeat characters and an unconventional plot set in exotic
Barcelona, Marrakesh, Tangier and New York.
